Jeff Root is joining Sagem Communication UK Ltd on 26 August as sales and marketing manager for the business-to-business channel. In May Michael Smart took on the role of managing director to develop the UK business, with particular focus on building the b2b channel for fax and multifunctionals. Jeff Root, who previously spent five years with Panasonic UK and has also worked for Canon UK, has extensive experience of this marketplace and will be launching and managing Sagem’s business fax range to the professional dealer and distributor channel. Michael Smart comments: “I am delighted that Jeff is joining Sagem Communication UK Ltd, this sends out a clear message to the channel – Sagem means business. The building blocks have been put in place over the last two months to support the b2b channel. Jeff will now be spearheading the drive to market and establishing the channel for the Sagem brand. This is a major appointment for Sagem UK and Jeff will be the key player as we move into the dealer channel and aim to secure the significant market share that we enjoy under the Phillips brand in the B2C channel.” As part of these expansion plans, a new range of 11 models are being introduced to the UK market later this year, including inkjet and laser technology from standalone through to networked multifunctional devices. In addition a Sagem-branded range of projectors, ADSL modems and router products are also being launched in Autumn this year.
