ArtSystems has announced a new distribution deal with Compaq that will see the company add Compaq projectors to its AV range. ArtSystems is a specialist wide format printing and imaging distributor and will initially focus on the education market through Compaq’s public sector promotions. This allows buyers of Compaq projectors, such as schools, local authorities and councils to claim back 10% of the retail price by registering the purchase. On a purchase of five or more projectors, this rebate is increased to 12%.

BT has extended its contract with Steljes Managed Services for the supply, and support of LCD projectors throughout the UK. The existing contract which was due to expire on 31 March 2006 will now run on a further two years to 2008

Promethean AV Distribution has been selected by leading business, financial and tax advisers, Grant Thornton UK LLP, to provide interactive technology as a presentation medium for corporate events. The company wanted a solution that would enable presenters to use freehand when presenting concepts to delegates. It is now employing Promethean's interactive panel to provide electronic flipchart functionality in conference settings. By connecting the interactive panel to a PC and data projector, the image from the PC appears on the panel's display and is simultaneously displayed on a projector screen behind the presenter.

The company is now the authorised repairer of Optoma brand ThemeScene(tm) RD-50 and RD-65 Digital Light Processing(tm) (DLP(tm)) televisions which displays picture by using an optical semiconductor to manipulate light digitally. Staffords is an ISO9001 and IIP accredited organisation that provides local and national service.

Jeff Root is joining Sagem Communication UK Ltd on 26 August as sales and marketing manager for the business-to-business channel. In May Michael Smart took on the role of managing director to develop the UK business, with particular focus on building the b2b channel for fax and multifunctionals. Jeff Root, who previously spent five years with Panasonic UK and has also worked for Canon UK, has extensive experience of this marketplace and will be launching and managing Sagem’s business fax range to the professional dealer and distributor channel. Michael Smart comments: “I am delighted that Jeff is joining Sagem Communication UK Ltd, this sends out a clear message to the channel – Sagem means business. The building blocks have been put in place over the last two months to support the b2b channel. Jeff will now be spearheading the drive to market and establishing the channel for the Sagem brand. Sagem has appointed Suffolk based A+K as its sole UK distributor for the Sagem range of B2B projectors. A+K will sell a range of five machines which will include both DLP and LCD models. For a limited time a free ITD60 digital freeview receiver is on offer with every projector sold. Stocks are limited. A+K managing director Derek Kuziw says: "We are delighted to welcome on board such a prestigious brand as Sagem. Midwich, the IT and AV distributor, says it is to become the first distributor to offer a lifetime swap out warranty on its projector products. The warranty will come free of charge with eight selected models, starting at just £449 trade for the 1500 ANSI lumens Toshiba S9, but it will also be available from just £49 on other models. Darren Lewitt, divisional director at Midwich, says: "We see this move as giving resellers the differential that they have been searching for. Many of the late comers in the market only offer a one or two year return to base warranty, so our resellers could only compete on price. Now, by offering our customers a lifetime swap out warranty, we can help them to win and retain new business from their competitors." In addition to the swap-out warranty initiative, Midwich is also offering an extended three year lamp warranty on selected Toshiba Projectors models, thus extending the normal 90 day period.
